Kristi Guarnieri

Over the past 7 years, I have worked as a mathematics teacher at Intermediate School 61. In 2008, I graduated with my Bachelor's degree in Adolescent Education and in 2010, I received my Master's degree in School Building Leadership. I hold my New York State Certification in Mathematics grades 7-12 and my School Building Leadership Certificate. As a facilitator of the Parent Resource Center and Lead Teacher, I recognize that a child’s education is a responsibility shared by the school and family the entire time the child attends our school. To support our school's goal to educate all students effectively, I.S.61 and our parents must work as knowledgeable partners. Parents are an integral component of a school’s ability to provide for the educational success of their children. We acknowledge that engaging parents is essential to improve student achievement and that our school should foster and support active parental involvement.

Thea Jon-Curry

I am a licensed 7 - 12 mathematics teacher. I currently teach grade 7 ICT (Integrated Co-Teaching) math. I am a total math nerd. I love math and believe everyone is capable of learning math. With a little patience, perseverance and care, all my students will succeed.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to engage parents and guardians in their student's educational experience through providing a comfortable setting to express concerns, questions and suggestions on the school site, and to provide support to the school community.  We are dedicated to providing families with an engaging while educating experience. Through the Parent Resource Center we will dig deep into the Common Core Mathematics curriculum by providing parents and guardians with strategies and techniques to aid their children at home. We believe that a strong parent/school partnership is an essential building block in an effective educational program.
